Additional Information about My Custom Portraits
I work from photos, therefore good photos are a must. When photographing your equine friend the best photos are from eye level so get on the same level as the animal. Natural, outdoor light is best. Dark, poorly lit barn shots of horses are not recommended for any detailed work. When photographing for a portrait fill frame with the animal's face or face and shoulders in a natural light, best results come without the use of a flash. Several shots of the animal gives me more to work from so the more photos you have the better. Before starting a piece of work I require a 50% downpayment of the final price. Prior to starting a drawing I study the reference photos provided in order to get a feel for the subject that I will be drawing. I do preliminary sketches before I begin to fill the drawing in to capture the final pose and details of the subject. I however, am unable to draw a person, I have never been able to so I only do portraits of our equine friends. All my drawings are done on a heavy weight watercolor paper, as I feel the ending product looks better than if it was done on regular drawing paper. I also get better blending of my media on the watercolor paper. As the artist I do retain all rights to any future duplication of the artwork by anyone but myself. Prior to shipping of the original artwork to you (the purchaser) each original piece of artwork will taken to a local gallery to be put on CD and a single print made for my personal collection. All originals will be coated in a protective spray to reduce the chance of rubs and scuffs and will be shipped in a tube to the purchaser. If you are interested in commissioning me to draw a portrait of your equine friend please email me at Shrimp14@aol.com with "Custom Portrait" in your subject line. Please remember with all custom artwork it does take time, sometimes the lead time is greater than others depending on how many commissioned pieces I have lined up to do. I will however try to keep the purchaser updated on the status of his/her work. |
